Tenterfield Show 2011

For as long as I can remember, I have been heavily involved with the Tenterfield Show. I retired this year as the show's Secretary, but am still actively involved with the Show.

With all this in mind, I thought I should give this year's Show a mention, and encourage anyone near Tenterfield to either enter the Show, or come along and enjoy all the great things on offer.

We have had a few set-backs this year, with the floods - leading the cancellation of the Stud Cattle, Shearing, Utes and Motorbike events .... but as they say, The Show will go on!
This year's show is on 4,5 and 6 February at the Tenterfield Showgrounds, Tenterfield.
For further details regarding the show, please visit the Show's website, http://www.tenterfieldshow.org.au/.

Aloomba Lavender Farm

I went for a visit yesterday afternoon to drop off some new scarves and to take a look around the beautiful Aloomba Lavender Farm.

Aloomba Lavender is part of a four thousand acre cattle property east of Stanthorpe. The lavender farm was established in 1998 and has become one of the best lavender and accommodation destinations in Stanthorpe.
The gift shop is a treasure trove of lavender goodies - ranging from dried bunches of lavender, to lavender chocolates, honey, jams and of course their very popular oils.

I highly recommend you visit Aloomba next time you're in the area. Your hosts Peter and Tere Bonner will make you feel so at home. It's definitely worth the drive!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful christmas and happy 2011.

I have had a big year with 'Eyzer' this year, and hope to continue growing in 2011. Your support and feedback are what keeps me going, and I treasure it immensely.

I wish you and your families all the best for the coming year.

Shibori scarves now available!

I have been experimenting of late with the shibori technique of dyeing scarves ... and am very pleased with the results.

Shibori is a Japanese term for several methods of dyeing cloth with a pattern by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, compressing it, or capping.

I have had a lot of fun with it and am gradually making the new range available in the online store.

Bush Christmas!

If you're in the Toowoomba area you should try and schedule in a visit to Bush Christmas before it winds up on Sunday 28 November.

Bush Christmas promotes talented artisans from remote and rural areas of Eastern Australia, and I am once again very proud to be part of such a wonderful event.

There is plenty to see and do, so do yourself a favour and head to The Downs Club on the corner of Margaret and Mylne Streets, Toowoomba.

Nest Gallery

My daughter has recently moved back to the area, and will be opening her art gallery, 'Nest Gallery', on Friday 24th September.
The opening exhibition is titled, 'Things of Thread and Wood' and features the works of local textile and wood artists. I will have some silk paintings on show - and have been experimenting with some new techniques, which I am excited about.
The exhibition will be running throughout Spring.
