A totally twisted evening!

We have just come to the close of another successful 'Twisted & Tangled' textile show for 2011. This year's event also ran over the Saturday and Sunday, allowing visitors to be able to see the garments in more detail and providing the designers with more exposure.

I officially launched my new range of silk ties at this year's event, and have received some wonderful feedback about them.

They are now available as part of my 'Eyzer Design' range, including wholesale.

If you would like more details regarding the ties, please don't hesitate to contact me sue@eyzerdesigns.com.

The images above are from this year's 'Twisted & Tangled' fashion parade, held at Mason Wines, Glen Aplin on Friday 1 April.

50's+ ART CLASSES!

After many requests, I have decided that now is the time to start ...

50’s+ ART

Keep the second Thursday of the month free for a painting day in the bush.

If the weather is bad we will retire to my workshop to become very creative.

The idea is to encourage retired people to develop their creativity and enjoy a day’s painting.

Cost: $20 per day for those needing tuition, free for those just wishing to join a group and paint.

Where: “Myrtleford” 307 Brushabers Road, Jennings

How to find “Myrtleford”: 07 46843308 (if help needed)

What to Bring: Any paints you have. Preferably acrylics, but just bring along whatever you have for the first day and we will work with those. I have acrylics on hand that can be used. Dont buy anything until we discuss your requirements. Some brushes (any you have),but please don’t buy Crazy Clark's brushes as they lose their bristles, water jar, rag, old clothes, easel if you have one, medium size stretched canvas, or canvas board, or sketch book (heavier quality paper).....these would be available at Crazy Clark's, lunch, chair. I will provide morning and afternoon tea.

Tuition will be based at beginner stage and will be focused on such things as composition, tonal values etc and not on mediums, so you will be able to try many different types of mediums and discover which are your favourites.

FIRST DAY: Thursday March 10, at 9am (Qld time) for a quick cuppa and a 9.30am start. Finish 3pm, back to the house by 3.30pm.

Call Sue for further information or to book your spot! (07) 4684 3308.

Twisted & Tangled 2011

After the success of last year's 'Twisted & Tangled' event, we have decided to do it all again this year! ... and it is gearing up to be quite the event!

Showcasing regional textile artists, 'Twisted & Tangled' promotes the wealth of talent we have in the area. It is a fantastic night out with the girls, and entry cost includes a champagne and nibblies throughout the evening. The food was just devine last year, thanks to the wonderful crew at 'Mason's Wines'.
This year's event will be on Friday April 1, 2011 at Mason's Wines ... with the added bonus of our designers having their work on display and for sale on the Saturday and Sunday as well. So if you can't make it to the Friday evening catwalk show, make sure you drop by between 10am-4pm over the weekend.
Last year, I created a range of 'Totally Twisted' scarves (as can be seen in the image above). This year however I have gone with a new approach ... and am producing a range of silk ties. I have provided a sneak peek above.

A busy start to 2011

Well, the Show is over for another year, so I am back on track again now, gearing up for another busy year.

You can find me at Stanthorpe's Market in the Mountains tomorrow, from 8am til noon. Come along and see some quality Granite Belt art, craft and of course, fresh produce. It's always a great morning out.

I am also busy, getting ready for another Granite Belt Flavours Market at Southbank in Brisbane. After all the devastation with the flooding at the beginning of the year, it is great to see Brisbane getting back on its feet. If you're in Brisbane on Sunday March 13, feel free to drop by and say hello. I will have a wonderful new range of shibori-dyed scarves available. Each one is just so unique and mini works of art!
I will also be running another silk painting workshop at the end of this month. There are still two places available if you are interested. Please email me at sue@eyzerdesigns.com or call (07) 4684 3308 for more details, or to enrol.

Tenterfield Show 2011

For as long as I can remember, I have been heavily involved with the Tenterfield Show. I retired this year as the show's Secretary, but am still actively involved with the Show.

With all this in mind, I thought I should give this year's Show a mention, and encourage anyone near Tenterfield to either enter the Show, or come along and enjoy all the great things on offer.

We have had a few set-backs this year, with the floods - leading the cancellation of the Stud Cattle, Shearing, Utes and Motorbike events .... but as they say, The Show will go on!
This year's show is on 4,5 and 6 February at the Tenterfield Showgrounds, Tenterfield.
For further details regarding the show, please visit the Show's website, http://www.tenterfieldshow.org.au/.

Aloomba Lavender Farm

I went for a visit yesterday afternoon to drop off some new scarves and to take a look around the beautiful Aloomba Lavender Farm.

Aloomba Lavender is part of a four thousand acre cattle property east of Stanthorpe. The lavender farm was established in 1998 and has become one of the best lavender and accommodation destinations in Stanthorpe.
The gift shop is a treasure trove of lavender goodies - ranging from dried bunches of lavender, to lavender chocolates, honey, jams and of course their very popular oils.

I highly recommend you visit Aloomba next time you're in the area. Your hosts Peter and Tere Bonner will make you feel so at home. It's definitely worth the drive!

Shibori scarves now available!

I have been experimenting of late with the shibori technique of dyeing scarves ... and am very pleased with the results.

Shibori is a Japanese term for several methods of dyeing cloth with a pattern by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, compressing it, or capping.

I have had a lot of fun with it and am gradually making the new range available in the online store.

Bush Christmas!

If you're in the Toowoomba area you should try and schedule in a visit to Bush Christmas before it winds up on Sunday 28 November.

Bush Christmas promotes talented artisans from remote and rural areas of Eastern Australia, and I am once again very proud to be part of such a wonderful event.

There is plenty to see and do, so do yourself a favour and head to The Downs Club on the corner of Margaret and Mylne Streets, Toowoomba.

HaidiHo

Just wanted to give a mention to my daughter's online store.

At haidiho, everything has a second chance at life. With a bit of a nip and tuck, vintage and pre-loved fabrics have been revitalised and transformed into orginal, functional pieces for the home, and out and about...

Check out her store ... it's worth the visit!: http://www.etsy.com/shop/haidiho (and I also think the brooches i've featured above would make a wonderful accessory to my silk scarves!)

Art in the Woolshed

Art in the Woolshed was first held in 1997 to provide a venue for members, friends & invited artists & artisans to display their work in the form of a social gathering, and what better venue than of course a woolshed, to reflect the grass roots of the group.

Held on the long weekend in June, make sure you get along to check out some amazing art and crafts. For more information, please visit their website.
